Poenari Castle is a ruined castle in Rumania associated with Prince Vlad III , known to history as Dracula. To reach the castle, visitors must climb 1,500 steps. It is said to be one of the most haunted places on earth. This castle is most properly called “Dracula’s Castle”, but Bran Castle, better preserved and once a residence of the Rumaniana Royal family is touted by the Rumanian tourism board as Dracula’s Castle, being more colorful for the casual tourist.
